International Communication Global Strategic Communication Specialization Major

The BA with a major in international communication (global strategic communication specialization) requires 124 hours with 40 hours in journalism for the global strategic communication specialization. One semester of study or internship abroad, a minor in a foreign language and an area of emphasis in international studies (12 hours) are required. A current list of courses that can be applied to the international studies emphasis is maintained in the Schieffer School office. Students selecting international studies emphasis courses should select from that list making certain to receive prior approval from their adviser. Required journalism courses are JOUR 10103, 10113, 20001, 30313, 30403, 30413, 30453, 30803, 40513, 40523, 40543 and 40903, with six hours of electives.

All international communication (global strategic communication specialization) majors must complete the following four courses—JOUR 10103, 10113, 30403 and 30313—with a 2.0 or better and a combined GPA of a 2.5 before enrolling in JOUR 30413, 30453, 30803, 40513, 40523, 40903 and 40703.
