GEOL 30153 - Geology of National Parks

Prerequisites: GEOL 10113, or permission of instructor. Study of dynamic geologic systems and the geology of the North American continent through the study of National Parks and Monuments in the United States. The three hours of lecture per week are designed for science majors and interested non-science majors, who wish to gain in-depth knowledge of processes that actively sculpt and have sculpted our continent through time. Particular emphasis is given to interpretation of visual features of the parks through visual aids. Discussions are encouraged and facilitated by the small class size.
