MUSP 40130 - Applied Voice Technology Lab

Prerequisites: Concurrent enrollment in MUSP 40110. This elective course will further the development of vocal technique through the application of measurable analyses to the coordination of vocal-fold vibration, airflow and resonation factors resulting in the desired chiaroscuro tone. The Kay-elemetrics Computerized Speech Lab, the Voce Vista program (in conjunction with electroglottography), and recording and video equipment will be used. In addition to analyzing their own singing in the vocal laboratory, students may examine recordings from their studio lessons, and compare technical strategies of recorded professional singers. All work will be coordinated with the studio teacher.
