Educational LeadershipThe MEd in Educational Leadership is a 36 credit-hour non-thesis program that prepares individuals to serve in roles of educational leadership. The program includes a pathway to certification for those persons wanting to serve as elementary and secondary principals, supervisors and central office staff in public and private schools (where certification may be required). The program also includes a pathway that is not inclusive of Texas administrator (i.e., principal or superintendent) certification. Note: Applicants seeking to enroll in the coursework leading to certification as a principal must have completed at least one full year of teaching in an accredited school prior to beginning coursework. In addition to required coursework, students in the Educational Leadership M.Ed. program complete a Tier I assessment upon completion of 12-15 hours coursework, and complete a Digital Leadership Portfolio. The Tier I Assessment provides an opportunity for mid-program feedback and coaching from faculty members. The Leadership Portfolio includes products from the required coursework and, for persons in the non-certification track, elements from elective courses. Candidates for graduation will conduct a presentation based in this portfolio work to a faculty committee and invited guests. Program Requirements Certification Tier I (15 hours)
